Merriam Woods
Merriam Woods has pros and cons. Its biggest pro is location being very close to Lake Taneycomo and just a few miles north of Branson. However the area is not very desirable. It is a very small town with a lot of poverty and is not very well maintained. It’s just north of Rockaway Beach which resides right on Lake Taneycomo. Rockaway Beach has several STR properties but it has similar problems with poverty and maintenance. While it may be possible to own an STR property here (although investors should validate STR approval), there are much better options in surrounding areas.

Unsure of the official STR approval posture. I’ve searched Airbnb and haven’t found any homes in Merriam Woods. There are several Airbnb properties just south in Rockaway Beach so it’s possible that approval could be granted, but investors should verify and not assume approval.
